If your house was built in the 90s, then chances are it’s filled with red…
The Forgotten Canvas: The Ceiling
When finishing out a room, an often overlooked aspect in a decorating plan is the ceiling. What a shame! When my clients ask if it’s normal to paint a ceiling (because I almost always request that they do so), I’m quick to say, “Of course!” An unfinished ceiling will generally fade into obscurity, with a few exceptions. It’s true that there are visual/spacial tricks that you attain with selecting a ceiling color, but when you introduce a color–even a subtle one–the room just “feels” finished! Use it as an opportunity to introduce a dramatic color and your room instantly has drama and depth.
Bold colors I’ve specified for clients on their ceilings…from living rooms, bathroom, and bedrooms…flat black (yes…even in a small bathroom!), metallic pink, metallic gold, and dark chocolate.
Here are a few images to give you inspiration and encouragement to tackle that overhead wall.
