A Very New York Christmas

My family and I had the exciting opportunity to visit New York City over Thanksgiving.  We were treated to incredible weather for viewing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (a dream of mine!) and see the sights of the Big Apple.  Another bonus was that the large department stores had unveiled their elaborate Christmas window exhibits the week before!

The holiday displays in the City are legendary with millions spent for only a few weeks of crowd-aweing displays.  Some buildings didn’t stop at the window displays.  Harry Winston ran a wide evergreen ribbon loaded with lights like sparkly diamonds (go figure) along their façade and set large cut gemstone accents above the windows.  Fendi wrapped their store front with gold belts and delicate dripping icicles.

The concepts ranged from whimsical & fun to elegant & ornate. The colors were spectacular and bright and the mechanization brought the stories to life.  And the crowds (and myself) went wild!  Here are just a few window displays that we were able to see.

ABC CARPET & HOME

While we may not be able to have the same level of detail as these stores, we can gather color and theme elements for our own homes and trees.  What is your style? Bright and colorful like the Macy’s windows or monochromatic and natural like ABC Carpet & Home?
